Longest Zip Line in U.S. at Attitash
Attitash Mountain Resort in Bartlett announced that construction on the longest zip line in the United States is underway. The 8,000 foot thrill-ride originates at the top of Bear Peak, descending to Attitash, then speeding riders to the bottom of the mountain. This is the latest addition to the resort's collection of rides, which also includes a mountain coaster. Attitash is 12.8 miles from Green Granite.
The New Roar-O-Saurus Wooden Roller Coaster at Story Land!
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Story Land unveils a new dinosaur-themed section of the park, featuring the area's only wooden roller coaster - aptly named the "Roar-O-Saurus." Rory, "the little dino with the big roar," leads the 1,242 foot long, 40-foot-high rollercoaster that will have riders screaming as they defy gravity. Look for the animatronic dinosaurs that confirm Story Land's famous moniker, "The Land Where Fantasy Lives." Story Land is 8.5 miles from Green Granite.
Suspension Bridge at Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves
An expansion project at Lost River Gorge & Boulder Caves in North Woodstock presents a new look at the geologic wonder. A new bridge leads people to 750 feet of boardwalk trails that snake through forest area and expand into a glacial boulder field at the bottom of the Dilly Cliffs. It is 43 miles from Green Granite.
Six Gun City
An enclosed tree-house and "bird-cages" on top of boulders add new fun to the attraction.The former Six Gun City in Jefferson is now the Fort Jefferson Fun Park. The Brady Family is marking 58 years of family-friendly entertainment with a new admission-free policy that lets guests spend an hour or a day in the park, paying for only the rides, games & food they want. "How the West was Fun" themed live shows are free of charge and welcome audience involvement. Several of the buildings are being remodeled into lodging that goes well with the adjacent Fort Jefferson Campground, giving a variety of options for overnight visits. Lincoln's Whale's Tale Water Park & Alpine Adventures
Lincoln's Whale's Tale Water Park & Alpine Adventures now offer combination ticket packages for warm-weather fun. The "Zip & Dip" combo ticket includes Whale's Tale expansive park and the Zipline Destination at Alpine Adventures. The new "Rip & Dip" creates an off-road adventure over 300 acres of scenic land, plus a day at the Whale's Tale Waterpark. It is 42 miles from Green Granite.
Nature by Rail Program Series/Hobo Railroad
The family-friendly Hobo Railroad has teamed up with the Squam Lakes Science Center of Holderness to present the "Nature by Rail" series. The Bank of New Hampshire sponsors it so it is free of charge to Hobo Railroad passengers. During these excursions, Science Center staff members ride on the trains and offer close-up encounters with furry or feathered animals at the station. It is 39 miles from Green Granite.
One-Mile Scenic Trail Opening at the Summit of Cranmore Mountain
A one-mile scenic trail is being created on the summit of North Conway's Cranmore Mountain and will open in time for summer, with lunch offered at Meisterhut. In late October, expect new features at Cranmore's spooky "Ghoullog" attraction. Monsters, mummies and members of the macabre will participate in the resort's nighttime Halloween Adventure Race, where competitive lurching and shuffling happens in the streets of North Conway Village. It is 3.6 miles from Green Granite.
Conway Scenic Railroad's Newly Refurbished Table Car
The Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway has added a newly refurbished table car, the "Mt. Webster" to their Notch Train excursions that go past sheer cliffs, over deep ravines and through spectacular Crawford Notch. It is 2.4 miles from Green Granite.
Biodiesel Locomotive Added to Mt. Washington Cog Railway
The Mt. Washington Cog Railway is making its fifth biodiesel locomotive part of its regular fleet, while keeping one old-fashioned steam engine on the schedule for early morning runs. The environmentally friendly, mountain-climbing biodiesels are built right at the base of the Cog Railway. It is 32 miles from Green Granite.
Guided Tours at Polar Caves Park
At Polar Caves Park, located in Rumney, guided tours of the caves are expected to be a popular addition to the self-guided walks along the nature trails and covered bridges. Polar Caves also features a Maple Sugar House & Museum. Construction on a mini-golf feature is slated to begin later in 2014. It is 55 miles from Green Granite.
Clark's Trading Post, the Flume Gorge, Cannon Aerial Tramway, Loon Mountain, Santa's Village, the Mt. Washington Auto Road, and Wildcat Mountain all report improvements and repairs to their infrastructures.
